PROFESSOR PREDRAG CVETIČANIN ABOUT THE FIELDS OF THE CULTURAL PRODUCTION IN SERBIA
On Sunday, 4 March, in the French Institute, dr Predrag Cvetičanin, director of the Centre for Empirical Cultural Studies of South-East Europe (CECS), professor at the University of Arts in Nis, and mentor in the first generation of the “Creative Mentorship” programme, held a lecture and workshop related to the field of sociology of culture: Fields of the cultural production in Serbia. The previous generation who participated in the programme evaluated this lecture and workshop with the highest marks. For that reason, we included them again in our educational programme, having in mind that they are very beneficial and important for our participants.
Professor Cvetičanin presented very significant and relevant theory of the “Fields of cultural production” that was developed by French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu. The workshop about positioning the agents in the fields of cultural production in Serbia and mapping the possible relations with other agents in culture and society was held after the lecture. The aim of the workshop was to help the participants of the programme to understand who they could collaborate with, with whom they might have mutual or opposite interests. Also, they questioned if we are, and why we are, depending from the state cultural policy or from the economical conditions in local communities etc.
As always, we were enjoying the inspirational lecture of professor Cveticanin and, unfortunately, facing the lack of time to discuss all the subjects that our participants were interesting in. We thank professor Cveticanin, hoping that we will meet again soon and cover all the interesting themes.
Like always, we bring your attention to our Youtube channel where you can find the lecture of professor Cveticanin, that was held in June 2016.
