Strengthening Creative Communities Across the Western Balkans
At Creative Mentorship, we believe that when professionals are provided with tailored support, opportunities for meaningful connection, and a safe and enabling space to grow, they don’t just develop individually, they also contribute to stronger, more connected and more resilient cultural communities.
This approach has been at the core of our mentoring programmes, including two regional cycles implemented within the EU-funded Culture and Creativity for the Western Balkans (CC4WBs) project — the Creative Leaders Mentorship Programme (2023-2024) and the Creative Mentorship for Young Professionals Programme (2025-2026).
These programmes brought together a diverse community of cultural and creative professionals across the region, connecting emerging talents – mentees, with experienced practitioners – mentors through a structured, long-term mentoring process that combines one-on-one mentoring, tailored educational programme, peer learning and networking opportunities and continuous, professional monitoring, evaluation and support from the Creative Mentorship team.
Programme scope and key achievements:
- 110 participants from across the Western Balkans
- 55 mentoring pairs
- 2 mentorship cycles, each year-long
- 500+ one-on-one mentoring meetings
- 50+ individual co-mentoring sessions on demand
- 10 tailor-made educational workshops
- 4 in-person and 6 online large-scale mentoring gatherings
- 3 major live networking events with wider Creative Mentorship community
- Continuous monitoring, evaluation and support by the Creative Mentorship team
- Continuous promotion of participants’ work beyond the project life cycle
- Creative Mentorship Alumni Network reaching 500+ members
Beyond numbers, two programmes led to tangible and lasting outcomes. Participants launched new cultural initiatives, developed artistic projects, strengthened leadership capacities and established collaborations that continue to grow beyond the programme life span. The programmes also played a significant role in strengthening regional cooperation, trust and exchange. By connecting professionals across countries, sectors and generations, we created an open and safe space for dialogue, collaboration and long-term professional relationships.

In a context where access to structured mentorship, continuous professional development and regional networking opportunities remains limited and where both institutional support and available funding for such processes are often insufficient, programmes like this play a critical role. They provide not only knowledge and guidance, but also continuity, trust and a sense of belonging within a wider professional community.
One of the key strengths of our mentoring programme lies in its sustainability and multiplier effect. By strengthening individual capacities, the mentoring programme contributes not only to personal and professional growth, but also to the development of the initiatives, organizations, collectives and institutions in which participants are active, supporting creatives who shape and drive positive change within their sectors and communities. At its core, the programme is grounded in knowledge and experience sharing, solidarity, continuous learning and mutual exchange, ensuring that its impact continues well beyond the duration of the mentoring process.
This is also reflected in the active role of alumni from the Creative Leaders Mentorship Programme, who have taken on the role of peer co-mentors and contributors to knowledge exchange, supporting the next generation of creative professionals and strengthening a community built on collaboration, solidarity, trust and shared learning. Today, the Creative Mentorship Alumni Network connects 500+ professionals across the region and beyond, functioning as an active community of exchange, collaboration and mutual support.
Through these programmes, Creative Mentorship has demonstrated a strong capacity to connect and support professionals across sectors, generations and borders, contributing to the development of stronger, more confident and better connected arts, culture, creative and media professionals in the Western Balkans.
With more than 15 years of experience, Creative Mentorship is today recognized as a leading organization in the Western Balkans in the field of mentoring and capacity building in arts, culture, creative industries and media. Through EU-funded projects and international collaborations and based on our proven methodology, we design and implement programmes that combine mentorship, education, networking and strategic support, enabling professionals, organizations and CCI to grow, connect and thrive.
