Regional Youth Cooperation Project: Kick-off seminar in Belgrade
This weekend, the Kick-off seminar of the project “Transforming the Region One Conversation at A Time – Inspired by Youth Cultural Cooperation”, took place in Belgrade. This is the first regional project for the “Creative Mentorship” and it is supported through the second RYCO Call for Proposals, co-funded by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund. We are partnering with “Rruga me Pisha” from Albania and OKR “Abrasevic” from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the seminar, 30 young people from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia formally embarked on a new adventure and acquired basic knowledge in the field of regional cooperation. They had the opportunity to get to know each other, to meet with mentors and to evaluate what ideas they would like to work on and what roles they would play within teams. Upon the completion of the seminar, teams were selected to work together to develop new projects over the next five months.
Participants also had the opportunity to visit important cultural institutions, such as the Museum of Yugoslavia, the Center for Cultural Decontamination, and the Artget Gallery. In this way, they were familiarized with the local culture over the course of two days and the partners of the “Creative Mentorship”. As part of the seminar, a panel on “Cultural Cooperation in the Western Balkans Region – Perspectives and Achievements” was held at the CZKD.
After the seminar in Belgrade, the mentees will work in groups with mentors to develop projects via Skype, and the next meeting will take place in Tirana in April. The last seminar will be held in July in Mostar, where the teams will present the results of their work.
