The rules of the game
The rules of the game define what is and what is not allowed during the mentoring process, between a mentor and a mentee. This Tool offers several examples of well-defined mentoring relationship rules:
- Show respect by regularly attending meetings without being late, turn off your mobile phone and respect your mentor/mentee during the conversation.
- Discretion: everything said and shared during the mentoring process is strictly confidential. Both parties should agree if something from the sessions needs to be communicated externally.
- Define unwanted topics: both, the mentor and the mentee are required to indicate which topics are undesirable for discussion due to possible conflict of interests or any other reason.
- Define your communication between regular sessions: is it possible and desirable to send emails or make occasional telephone calls between sessions for important consultation.
